Anchored Not Anxious
Grab an Anchor When Life Feels Unstable
Peaceful moments are easily disturbed by worries, unexpected change, or stress. Discover a powerful metaphor for our spiritual journey through a woman’s encounter at the ocean’s edge.
Uncertainty, life change, and stress events can feel like shifting sand, but you can remain anchored to God. Hebrews 6:19 is your lifeline.
Perfect for anyone experiencing anxiety, facing uncertainty, or seeking spiritual stability during turbulent seasons.
Welcome to Anchored Not Anxious. This is your 3 minutes to Anchored Devotion from Hebrews 6:19
A woman walked onto a narrow rocky jetty extending into the ocean, weathered by waves and salty winds. The stones aligned to create a natural path leading down into the sea water.
She gazed at the gentle waves rolled along the gray and black stone. Taking off her shoes, she descended the path and stepped into the coolness of the ocean. The water rose to her knees as her feet sank into the sand.
Venturing but a few small steps forward, she was caught off-guard by the steep downward angle and the loose sand. Quickly, she turned back toward the jetty but both waves and sand worked against her effort.
Her heart raced as she fought to get closer to the rocks. With all her strength, she pushed forward to grab onto a jutting stone.
Upon climbing to the top, the warmth of the black rock felt good against her cold, wet skin. Her palms stung from the scrapes inflicted by the jagged stone.
Carefully, she rose to a standing position while reflecting on the sudden fear and loss of control that replaced her peace. As she stood on the jetty, gazing at the horizon, she remembered these words, “God is a firm foundation.”
The story mirrors our spiritual path.
The solid ground or rock represents our foundation in God. Grounded, anchored in Him, we find rest and peace. The shifting sand and waves represent uncontrolled worry, anxiety, catastrophic what-ifs, panic, and even despair.
All of that works against you and invites doubt and hopelessness. But trust and hope anchor us to God.
Hebrews 6:19, “Therefore, we who have fled to God for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.”
When your trust falters, grab onto the lifeline of hope and God’s promises. Use both to pull yourself back to God.
